Depression Treatment Houston
You Can’t Just Snap Out of It and You Shouldn’t Have To
Medication, therapy, or both- get treatment that’s about progress.
It Doesn't Always Look Like Sadness
Sometimes depression looks like showing up to work fine and falling apart the second you’re alone. Sometimes it looks like irritability, not tears. Sometimes it’s just nothing- no sadness, no joy, just going through a day on autopilot.
If your depression doesn’t match the version you’ve seen in movies or heard about from other people, that doesn’t make it less real. At Integrated Psychiatry, our Houston depression treatment experts help you figure out what’s actually going on, and what to do about it.
When It's More Than a Rough Patch
Everyone has bad days. Depression is different- it sticks around, and it doesn’t let up just because something good happens.
If you’ve noticed several of these for two weeks or more, it may be time to look into depression treatment in Houston, TX:
You Might Notice | The Effect on Daily Life |
A low mood that won’t lift | Getting through the day feels like a chore |
Losing interest in things you enjoyed | Hobbies, friends, or plans stop feeling worth it |
Sleep that’s off | You’re either exhausted or wide awake at the wrong hours |
Trouble focusing | Work, conversations, or simple tasks take more out of you |
A harsh inner voice | Guilt or self-criticism that feels hard to shake |
Appetite changes | Eating noticeably more or less than usual |
Slower thinking or moving | Even small tasks feel like they take more effort |
But if you feel like this, you don’t have to wait until it gets even worse before seeking help.
It Doesn't Always Come Alone
Depression often shows up alongside anxiety, ADHD, chronic pain, or ongoing sleep problems- and treating just one piece can leave the rest unaddressed. Before building your treatment plan, we look at the full picture, not just the symptoms that brought you in.

Treatment That Actually Fits How You're Struggling
Depression doesn’t respond to a single fix for everyone, so depression treatment in Houston, TX at Integrated Psychiatry starts with figuring out what’s actually driving yours- then building a plan around it.
That can include:
Medication Management
When medication makes sense, we prescribe and monitor it carefully- adjusting as needed, and explaining what to expect at every step, including side effects and timelines.
Therapy, When It's Useful
Not everyone needs ongoing talk therapy, and we won't push it if it's not the right fit. When it is, we incorporate it directly into your care.
Ongoing Adjustment
Depression treatment isn't "set it and forget it." We check in, track what's working, and adjust your plan as your symptoms- and your life- change.
Depression Treatment From People Who Take It Seriously
You might find plenty of options for depression clinics in Houston- here’s what makes Integrated Psychiatry different:
We Don't Rush to Medicate
Medication can help, but it's not our default. We talk through your symptoms first, and only recommend it when it actually fits your situation.
You're Not Locked Into One Plan
If your first treatment plan isn't working, we adjust it. Depression treatment isn't static, and neither is our approach.
Consistent Support Throughout Your Care
You won't have to re-explain your history to someone new each time. Continuity matters, especially with depression treatment.
In-Person or Telepsychiatry
Come into our Galleria-area office, or meet with your provider online- whichever fits your life right now.
Know Your Type, Get the Right Treatment
Depression doesn’t always have one clear cause, and it doesn’t always look the same from person to person. Knowing the type you’re dealing with can shape what treatment actually works.
Some common forms include:
Postpartum Depression
Occurs after pregnancy, usually mixed up with fatigue and a guilty sort of sadness about not being as joyful as you believe you are expected to be.
Seasonal Affective Disorder
Sadness occurs as the weather changes with the seasons – gets colder and darker, but then fades away with the arrival of spring and summer.
Situational Depression
Occurs because of a certain situation- the end of a relationship, a death, loss of a job, a sudden change in your life that makes everything fall apart.
Persistent Depressive Disorder
Chronic, but low-level depression that stays around for years, and which is often overlooked because a person is just “a pessimist.”
Major Depressive Disorder
Heavier symptoms that get in the way of everyday life work, relationships, just getting through the day.
However, it shows up for you, your care starts with understanding your specific situation first.
What to Expect in Depression Treatment in Houston
Not knowing what happens at a first appointment can be enough to keep someone from booking it at all. Here’s what actually happens:
Before Your Visit
You'll fill out a short intake form- your symptoms, history, and what's brought you in. No long essays required.
During Your Evaluation
Your provider will ask questions and listen. This isn't a test, and there's no wrong answer- just an honest conversation about what's going on.
After Your Evaluation
You'll leave with a clear next step, whether that's a treatment plan, a follow-up visit, or simply more clarity than you had walking in.
You Don't Have to Keep Carrying This
Depression can make even small things feel heavy. You don’t have to wait for a worse day before reaching out. Integrated Psychiatry is ready to help, whenever you’re ready to start.
FAQs
1. How do I know if I have depression or I'm just going through a hard time?
A hard time usually passes as circumstances change. Depression tends to stick around regardless of what’s going on around you, and it often comes with physical symptoms too- sleep changes, fatigue, appetite shifts. If it’s lasted two weeks or more, it’s worth getting evaluated.
2. Should I be getting therapy, medication, or both?
It varies by your particular condition and history. Some people do well with therapy alone, others need medication, and many benefit from both. We’ll figure this out together during your evaluation- not before.
3. Will I be on medication forever?
Not necessarily. Some people take medication short-term while working through a difficult period; others benefit from longer-term use. Your provider will revisit this with you regularly- it’s never a “set it and forget it” decision.
4. How soon can I get an appointment?
We offer both in-person and telepsychiatry visits to get you seen as quickly as possible. Reach out and we’ll find a time that works.
5. What if I'm having thoughts of suicide?
If you are in immediate distress or having thoughts of harming yourself, please reach out for immediate support- call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) anytime, day or night. If you’re already a patient, you can also contact our office directly.
